U16 League Division 1
Shannon Town 0 v 0 Ennis Town
Ennis Town began their league campaign with a well earned draw away to Shannon Town last night . Minus a number of regular players due to injury and some coming back from injury, Ennis started the brightess and good play resulted in Luke Pyne just shooting over from 30 yds .The remainder of the half Ennis were comfortable and their midfield and defence were on top throughout.
Town were denied a goal early in the second half when an excellent free kick from Cathal Talty was touched over by the Shannon keeper .
Ennis were now dominating and a great cross from Jack Kelliher was volleyed by William Bello but his shot came off the crossbar .Soon after Ennis should have been awarded a penalty after William Bello was taken down but the referee instead awarded a free kick on the edge of the square . The resultant free was just over the bar from Cathal Talty.
So it was deadlocked at the end of 80 minutes. Ennis will be a little disappointed not to have taken the 3 points but can look forward to the remainder of the campaign with confidence and hopefully the return of a number of injured players.
